Dear BIAS Friend:

jBIAS™ is a select subset of the standard BIAS functionality implemented within a pure J2EE environment. For all of us who aren't into all the technical jargon, that means jBIAS is being written entirely in JAVA and implemented using XML (Extensible Markup Language) for all its external interfaces and IP (Internet Protocol) for its communication interfaces with the information vendors.

Our initial release of jBIAS will include the reports from ChoicePoint. More detail is included in this edition of Bits 'n' Bytes.

The BIAS developers have also completed the work required to incorporate Explore's EARS™ and Risk Alert™ reports and Millennium Information Services' home inspection reports (MAPS™) into the BIAS access and management functionality. They've also completed the first implementation of ISO Passport™ report request and retrieval capability.

What else do you need? Let us know and we'll see what we can do to ensure that BIAS continues to meet all your needs for access to and management of external information.

Sincerely,

Kenneth L. Wayman, II
President

SCSI ANNOUNCES jBIAS

A JAVA BASED PRODUCT FOR ALL ENVIRONMENTS

The next development project at SCSI will allow our customers to take full advantage of the most current systems technologies to meet their needs for information access and management. The newest product from our developers is BIAS for the NET. jBIAS operates in a JAVA (J2EE) environment with XML APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) and IP (Internet Protocol) access to the information vendors. This new product, jBIAS, offers a subset of the functionality available in BIAS, which is the leading product used for access to and management of external underwriting information.

jBIAS will benefit those of our customers and potential customers who have been looking for a data access and management utility that allows them to meet their needs for external information using a highly adaptable product. Written in JAVA, jBIAS will run on any server that supports the standard JAVA Virtual Machine (JVM) environment. The APIs available in jBIAS have been rewritten to support XML input and output and the links to the information providers have been modified to support the IP communications technology.

Initial development of jBIAS is now taking place in the MS Windows 2000 environment using JAVA 1.3 and Microsoft's SQL Server 2000 as the database. Care is being taken during development to ensure that only fully supported extensions of the JAVA language are utilized within the jBIAS product. This will ensure that the product will be portable to any server capable of supporting standard JVM functionality. The coding used in the development of jBIAS will also support any database product that supports the JAVA JDBC (Data Base Connectivity).

jBIAS is now in initial development and testing. It should be available in the first quarter of 2003 for access to products from ChoicePoint. Later versions of the product will incorporate access to all the information vendors and products currently available in BIAS.

Introductory pricing for jBIAS will be available for a limited time. Interested parties are invited to call us at (410) 730 - 4040

EXPLORE AND MILLENNIUM NOW AVAILABLE

NEW SOURCES FOR MVR AND DRIVER DISCOVERY DATA

E.A.R.S.®

EARS, (Electronically Accessed Reunderwriting Service), is an "exception based" reporting service, designed to provide auto underwriters with the ability to continuously monitor a book of business for moving violation activity. The service is run in batch form, once per month, and accesses violation data provided to Explore by state agencies responsible for accumulating such data. The resulting "EARS reports" are generated only on drivers with violation activity posted during the monitoring period. EARS dramatically reduces risk exposure while simultaneously enforcing surcharge or tiering programs.

RiskAlert®

Specifically designed for Personal Lines Auto, RiskAlert continuously monitors state Driver's License files for the presence of "undisclosed" newly licensed youthful operators. RiskAlert identifies and reports young drivers based on a series of customer defined filters. The result is a compact set of highly actionable underwriting reports that reduce risk exposure and increase premium. RiskAlert replaces the need for mail-home surveys and tracking systems aimed at youthful driver discovery.

The EARS monitoring service and the RiskAlert reports are now available through a BIAS interface and the data returned from Explore is stored in the appropriate BIAS folder where it is available for analysis or viewing.

NEW SOURCES FOR MVR AND DRIVER DISCOVERY DATA

Millennium's expert platform (MAPS), provides paperless workflow tools for underwriters and risk management in collecting, evaluating, viewing, and storing home inspection data.

Millennium's B2B data integration options, combined with the new BIAS functionality, make it easy for any client to transmit requests for home inspections, and to receive electronically, the final inspection report. All of the report

data, including photographs and drawings, is stored in BIAS folders so it is available for analysis and for viewing.

BIAS INTERFACE TO FAIR, ISAAC DECISION SYSTEM™

OFFERING COMBINES THE LEADING ANALYTIC DECISIONING TOOL SET WITH THE LEADING INFORMATION ACCESS PRODUCT

SCSI has worked closely with Fair, Isaac to produce an off-the-shelf integration between BIAS and Fair, Isaac's Personal Lines underwriting solution, Insurance Decision System (IDS)ä. Fair, Isaac has expanded the IDS™ solution to incorporate the functionality of Blaze Advisorä, an industry leading rules engine that Fair, Isaac acquired along with HNC Software in August 2002. As a result, we are currently working with Fair, Isaac to ensure the same interface capability between BIAS and the enhanced IDS™ solution.

The IDS™ solution handles information flow and data analysis, and BIAS retrieves the external information required to underwrite and rate applications. This integration of BIAS with IDS™ allows us to offer our customers a proven solution for interactive, real-time, insurance application processing. Through our relationship with Fair, Isaac, BIAS is also an integral part of Fair, Isaac's certified solution with Siebel's eInsurance offering. Each of these integrations takes full-advantage of the BIAS APIs that allow BIASto be integrated easily into virtually any environment.

In an effort to make Personal Lines underwriting and rating a seamless decision process, Fair, Isaac has partnered with InsBridge and their Rate Managerä product to encompass rating as part of the IDS™ solution.

Through these partnerships, the IDS™ solution provides an encompassing process that accesses external data and rates and underwrites a policy across all distribution channels for Personal Lines.
